It is a non basmati rice and has long grains. This rice is considered one of the best for daily consumption. Baskathi rice is a staple in West Bengal region and among the Bengali community.
It is a parboiled rice and has many health benefits if compared with normal white rice. Apart from daily use as rice supplement, Banskati is also used in the preparation of various rice dishes like Bengali pulao, home-made biryanis, fried rice, etc.
The texture of Baskathi rice is consistent and it does not turn thick, chewy or non-sticky after boiling.
